Plant & special machinery

Plant running continuously does not forgive sensors that become a maintenance item themselves. Anyone wanting to measure torque used to buy slip rings, extra sealing points and calibration intervals along with it, which are exactly the items that cost money in maintenance.

The starting point

At the same time the need for solid data keeps growing. Condition monitoring, process validation and the documentation of production steps all assume the actual load is known rather than estimated from motor current.

Because our measuring principle works without contact, there is neither abrasion nor an extra sealing point. In the service schedule the measuring point behaves like any piece of shaft: it simply does not appear there.

Where it is used

Torque measurement in drivelines and test benches

01

Turning standard components into measuring ones

Driveshafts, pumps and gear units can be turned into measuring components with no redesign. They report how hard they are actually working, instead of leaving the load to be inferred from nameplate figures and motor current.

02

Process monitoring in real time

The torque curve during a production step is a direct indicator of quality. Deviations show up in the curve before they show up in the part, and can be corrected before scrap is produced.

03

Validation and test bench

In product development the measurement delivers solid load profiles under real conditions. Performance limits become documentable instead of being estimated through safety factors.

What you gain

What operations and design get out of it

No extra service intervals

No mechanical contact means no abrasion and no wearing parts to replace. The measuring point does not lengthen the service schedule.

Predictive maintenance

Torque creeping upward for the same job is an early sign of bearing or gearbox wear, long before a failure stops the plant.

Original equipment and retrofit

The sensors adapt to different shaft geometries. Existing plant can be made measuring after the fact, with no redesign of the driveline.

Measurement data for control

Because the reading arrives with no appreciable delay, the controller can react to load changes rather than log them afterwards.
