Industries Wheelset, traction drive and test bench

Rail & railway

Testing rail vehicles means getting readings off shafts, couplings and wheelsets reliably, out of a rotating system. Fixed cabling stops at these measuring points, and slip rings add to both installation and maintenance.

The starting point

Telemetry systems capture strain, torque, temperature, acceleration and vibration directly on the rotating part and transmit the data contactlessly. That suits temporary instrumentation as readily as endurance runs and multi-channel work.

MEGA Telemetry links the measuring modules mounted on the part to a stationary pickup and a base station. Channel count, sensors and data output are matched to the test bench or vehicle rig you already have.

Where it is used

Measurement data from wheelset, traction drive and gearbox

01

Wheelset and gearbox test benches

Multi-channel capture of strain, torque, temperature and vibration on shafts, bearings and couplings. The measuring modules turn with the part; the pickup carries the data into the stationary measuring chain.

02

Traction drives and couplings

Telemetry makes load spectra, dynamic torque and thermal conditions visible at measuring points that are hard to reach. Evaluation can be fed into the existing rig over Ethernet, analogue outputs or optionally CAN FD.

03

Endurance and running trials

Rugged module variants support measurement under vibration, shock and contamination. Time-stamped, synchronous channels make it easier to line readings up with test bench and vehicle data.

System advantages

Telemetry for rotating measuring points in rail

Multi-channel measurement

Four channels per MEGA module and a cascadable architecture allow measuring chains from a handful of signals up to extensive wheelset or gearbox instrumentation.

Contactless transmission

Measuring modules and sensor wiring stay on the rotating part. Data goes to the pickup in the near field; the measuring chain needs no slip rings.

Open data output

The base station delivers data over Ethernet, openDAQ and analogue outputs, with CAN FD available as an option. That lets the system slot into test benches you already run.

Matched to the installation

Standard, Slip-in and Robust module variants cover different space constraints, connectors and ambient conditions.
