Industries Mid-motor, bottom bracket and training equipment

E-bikes & fitness equipment

A drive that cuts in late or coarsely feels like a machine. A drive that knows the pedalling force precisely feels like assistance. The difference lies less in the motor than in the quality and the delay of the torque signal the controller receives.

The starting point

In the consumer market a second condition applies: the solution has to be economical to build in high volume. Measurement that convinces as a one-off but fails the series costing is no help to a manufacturer.

Because the measurement needs no extra component in the load path, it manages both: fine enough for a natural ride feel and simple enough for high volume.

Where it is used

Measuring positions in the product

01

Mid-motor and bottom bracket

The rider’s pedalling force is the most important input the drive control has. Measured directly in the load path, motor assistance can follow the pedal stroke instead of chasing it.

02

Power measurement in fitness equipment

On indoor bikes, ergometers and home trainers, power delivered is the central training figure. Exact torque measurement is the basis of any watt reading worth trusting, and therefore of any training control.

03

Connected studio equipment

The compact housing and direct digital connection suit the new generation of connected equipment. Resistance to vibration keeps readings stable even under heavy use.

What you gain

What manufacturers get out of it

Designed for series production

The technology is built for high volume, which makes it an economical alternative to classic torque sensors in an OEM setting.

Responsive drive control

Contactless real-time measurement allows motor control that supports the rider’s effort rather than cutting in by steps.

Rugged against weather and sweat

Protected to IP67 and resistant to shock, designed for rain and dirt on the bike as readily as for damp in the studio.

Torque and speed measurement in one space

Torque and speed measurement in one system saves room in the motor housing and simplifies the electronic architecture.
